NADI, FIJI, September 21, 2005: A group of former Fiji residents have come to the assistance of a temple committee in a rural farming community. During a visit earlier this year, the executives of Yaadein Vision Australia noticed that the Sita Ram temple at Solovi, Nadi, lacked statues of Gods and Goddesses. They assured the temple committee executives during that visit that they would send statues to the temple. According to the temple committee, the statues arrived in the country from India through Australia courtesy of the non-government organization. Committee member Ram Karan said the statues and freight cost more than US$4,731 and Yaadein paid for everything. “We are grateful to the executives for donating the statues to the temple. It was a coincidence that they were in the country when prayers were held at the temple to instal the statues. “The executives participated in the three-day prayers and stayed at the temple throughout the recital of the Ramayana.” Mr. Karan, a member of Yaadein Vision Fiji, said the temple’s devotees were happy after seeing the statues arriving. Yaadein also donated stationery and school bags to schools and needy students in the Western Division. Yaadein Vision Fiji president Nath Sharma said seven fax machines, three printers and nine computers were handed to schools and more than 700 students were given books, pens, sharpeners, ruler and school bags.
