NEW ZEALAND, October 4, 2003: Asia 2000 held its first Diwali Festival, India’s Festival of Lights, in Wellington and Auckland last year. Around 70,000 people attended these exciting events and 2003 is shaping up to be just as popular. Diwali gives Aucklanders and Wellingtonians a chance to experience a traditional Indian festival right here in New Zealand with scrumptious food, non-stop free family entertainment, Bollywood dancing, traditional crafts and much more. The 2003 events will also feature new decorations specially made in India for the events. And entry is free! The Asia 2000 Diwali Festival of Lights will be held in Auckland, Sunday 12 October 2003, 10am to 10.00pm at the Mahatma Gandhi Centre, 145 New North Road and in Wellington, Saturday 18 October 2003, 3pm to 10.00pm in the Civic Square and Town Hall.
