EVESHAM, NEW JERSEY, January 18, 2004: The Hindu Temple Association in Burlington County proposed a 19,427-square foot center to the Planning Board last Thursday. Planning a Hindu temple and Indian cultural center at the location on Route 73 between Dutch Road and Ardsley Drive, the association was questioned by the Planning Board as to whether the proposed 190 parking spaces would be sufficient. Neighboring residents present at the meeting felt that the overflow would affect them on festival days. Attorney for the association, Tim Prime, pointed out that occupancy at the center would be limited to 570 and that the number of parking spaces satisfies the township ordinance of one space for every three seats in houses of worship. Dr. Dhiraj Panda said that an estimated 100 to 150 would attend most events at the center and that only one religious holiday, the fall festival of Diwali, draws more. Chairman of the Planning Board, Howard Bronstein asked the association if they would prohibit Diwali at the center. The article says, “After a short break, the association said it would agree. Panda said the association would continue to rent a high school for the festival, as it has done for a decade.”
