JAMMU, INDIA, February 20, 2004: A three-month, free Sanskrit language course organized by Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan (Deemed University) was inaugurated today at Shri Ranbir Campus by Dr. Jitender Udhampuri, Director Radio Kashmir Jammu. Many distinguished Sanskrit lovers and enthusiasts and participants, besides the Principal, staff and students of the campus, were present on the occasion. In his inaugural address, Dr. Jitendra Udhampuri said that Sanskrit is a very important for developing a thorough knowledge of our grand culture. “It enjoys the unique status of being the mother of the majority of Indian languages. So, every Indian has a natural craving to learn this language,” he said, but regretted that our modern social and educational system has failed to make study of this language financially satisfying. He congratulated the Sansthan for having understood the longing of the people and made arrangements for satisfying a long-felt need. In his presidential address, Dr. G. Ganganna, Principal, Shri Ranbir Campus, said that the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan had devoted itself to preserving and promoting this great treasure-trove of India heritage.
