UJJAIN, INDIA, February 6, 2004: When the All-India Akhara Parishad decided to hold three Shahi Snans (“royal baths,” the biggest events) during Simhastha, the decision was amiable to all sadhus participating in the Kumbh. Shahi Snans will be held on April 5, April 22 and May 4 of this year. The article says, “All the 13 akharas of the country took part in the meeting. The decision is also expected to bring respite to the local administration, as crowd pressure on Shahi Snans would get distributed with the new decision.” In addition the article points out that Mahant Gyandasji of the Nirvani Ani Akhara has been unanimously elected as the president of the Akhara Parishad. Parishad, being the premier body of the sadhu community in the country holds full command over Kumbh activities.
