TRINIDAD, July 12, 2004: Charging discrimination against the Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha (SDMS) in its quest for a radio licence, Satnarayan Maharaj has promised to seek the intervention of the judicial system to seek redress. Earlier this year, a High Court judge agreed with the SDMS that there was gross discrimination by the Government’s delay in granting a radio licence in order to propagate Hinduism in Trinidad and Tobago. The secretary general, made this comment following the refusal of this country’s Telecommunications Authority. Shri Maharaj said that the SDMA was prepared to take its legal challenge to a decision not to grant it to the Privy Council in London, if necessary. “There is no doubt that the Government has discriminated against the Hindu organization,” he said.
