DENPASAR, INDONESIA, July 15, 2004: Indonesia’s province of Bali was appointed to host the world Hindu Youth Summit to take place here from November 26 to 30, 2004. The summit which would be the first of its kind, was expected to be attended by at least 180 participants and observers from 18 countries, chairman of the event organizing committee, AA Ngurah Arya Wedakarma said here Tuesday. “The 18 countries which will send their representatives to the summit are the United States, Australia and some European, African and Asian countries,” he said. He said that the meeting would be held to enhance the international Hindu youth relationship as well as to enable the participants to get more information and to communicate with other people of the same faith in the world. According to Agus Indra Udayana of the Bali Gandhi Puri Asram, who would soon depart for Singapore and Malaysia to promote the event, the meeting would be held to set up a scretariat in the province with some representative offices in other countries. He expressed hope that the meeting would reach an agreement to promote Bali as one of the world’s Hindu research centers after India and Nepal.
