NEW YORK, USA, August 10, 2004: More than 35 Hindu organizations of North America along with more than 800 Hindus joined hands to celebrate the tenth Hindu Sangathan Divas in New York on July 31, 2004, according to a report from “source.” Speeches by Hindu leaders, patriotic songs and scintillating classical dances by professional TV/radio artists were part of the celebration. This event was marked to commemorate Ch. Shivaji Maharaj, the valiant Hindu Warrior who librated Hindus from Islamic domination and established a Hindu Empire in 1674. Speaker on this occasion, Dr. Mahesh Mehta, Vice Chairman of World Hindu Council, was given life time achievement award presented by Pundit Jas Raj for his services for more than 40 years in the cause of Hindu Dharma. Other Hindu leaders who attended the event were: Rene Lobo, Community News Director on the International Television Channel, Br. Krishna Moorthy, Acharya, Chinmaya Mission, USA and Swami Jyotirmayananda from India. Dr. Mehta, in his speech, while highlighting the drawbacks of Hindus, urged Hindus to understand the importance of Hindu Unity Day and learn to work in unison. All leaders underlined the importance of transferring Hindu culture and value to the children and youth to establish peaceful and harmonious future in the world.
