TOLEDO, OHIO, August 14, 2004: Since August of 1989, the Hindu community in Toledo has been worshipping at their Hindu Temple and Heritage Hall on a 15-acre parcel on King Road in Sylvania Township. This year during the Festival of India, the 500 area families are hosting special events in honor of the 15th anniversary. The article says, “This weekend’s Festival of India includes several special pujas, or prayers, including one held last night honoring Sri Ganesha, the Hindu god of attendants.” Pandit Anant Kumar B. Dixit, spiritual leader of the temple, says, “Without spiritual evolution, human beings can achieve neither happiness nor prosperity because all the material possessions cannot make the human mind peaceful. Hindus participate in the Sri Ganesha Yagna to bring this awakening all over the world, and for the good of mankind, for the removal of all kinds of obstacles.” During the festival several other grand pujas are planned as well as cultural performances and prasadam for those attending.
