CALCUTTA, INDIA, September 24, 2004: (HPI note: This is a second report on the dropping of visa requirements for Indians traveling to Mauritius.) Indian Tourism and leisure minister Anil Kumarsingh Gayan announced in an extended goodwill gesture that Indian travelers need only return ticket, to spend their vacations or visit for many other good reasons the Island. This will increase the number of Indians visiting Mauritius every year. An immediate issuance of no-objection certificates to Bollywood filmmakers by the Mauritius Film Development Corporation, 10 to 12 film shoots take place on the beaches and blue waters every year. The latest in the long list of Bollywood hits made in Mauritius is Salman Khan’s Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. The island is eagerly awaiting the arrival of Amitabh Bachchan on October 10. Indian travelers will be drawn by religion and adventure, Gayan said.
