TRINIDAD, TOBAGO, October 15, 2004: Not many can afford to journey to the sacred pilgrims of India so for this year’s Divali celebration, the PRIDE Foundation in collaboration with the Sri Dattatreya Yoga Center will create a pilgrimage site–Jyoti Mahotsav (the festival of lights) where devotees can visit and discover their light within. This initiative is under the patronage of Senator Linda Baboolal and the driving force behind the venture is Minister in the Ministry of Science and Technology Sateesh Ramroop. The pilgrimage site is to be constructed at the Sri Dattatreya center, Orange Field Road, Carapichaima. The official opening of the site will take place on the 3rd of November and continue to the 7th. The program intends to highlight the practice of the Hindu faith that is to visit various sacred sites all over India. Nine pilgrimage huts will be constructed and a makeshift river will be constructed around them. Ramroop said that the Raj Yoga Center is one of the organizations that will be involved in this venture. Different organizations will be recreating pilgrimage sites that are unique and reflect the same essence as the actual site.
