KANCHEEPURAM, INDIA, November 16, 2004: With the return of junior pontiff Sri Vijayendra Saraswathi activities picked up in the Kanchi Kamakoti peetam, which reverberated with the chanting of Vedic hymns and religious songs. Sri Vijayendra Saraswathi assumed the seat to perform puja (worship) with an elephant setting out on its ceremonial trumpeting and a cow being brought in for puja. Devotees started pouring into the ashram in large numbers in vans and cars after coming to know about the arrival of the junior seer. Puja articles loaded in a truck was brought into the ashram. Heartened by the return of Sri Vijayendra Saraswathi, Hindu Munnani volunteers raised slogans against the state police for the arrest of the Shankaracharya Sri Jayendra Saraswathi. Several important personalities, including a top executive of the software company TCS and former CEC T N Seshan were present in the ashram.
