KAULA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, December 9, 2004: The Malaysia Hindu Sangam issued the following press release:

We have in our midst ideal sons and daughters, who have silently, reverently and patiently, loved and cared for their parents who may have been ill, weak, handicapped or dependent. This could have been for long periods, running into decades. Still these “heroes” and “heroines” have, far beyond the call of duty, served and lovingly cared for and comforted their parents, while sacrificing their own leisure, pleasures, limited finances and even their careers. The type of true “heroes” and “heroines” the world needs are those who make their daily lives an example of Truth, Love, Caring and Sacrifice bordering on the Divine. These sons and daughters have adopted and lived the truth that “to love and serve your parents is to love and serve God.” Malaysia Hindu Sangam will present the Dharmic Award to the finest Hindu Son(s) and Daughter(s) who have been role models for others. These Awardees will be the torch bearers who will inspire others to emulate them in some small way, at the least. This Award is open to all Malaysian Hindus, aged 25 and above. Nomination forms must be completed by the proposer, who could be a parent, sibling, friend, relative of the nominee or an organization. All completed nomination forms must be received not later than December 31, 2004.
