KAUAI, HAWAII, December 28, 2004: With thousands of news stories available on the Internet, HPI is not attempting full coverage, but only to fill in with stories of special interest to Hindus and otherwise likely to be missed.
We are requesting recommendations for the names of relief organizations able to operate in the impacted areas (especially Sri Lanka and India) for people to send donations to. These can be based in any country, such as USA, Canada, UK, Malaysia, etc. They should have tax-deducatable status in their own country, an on-the-ground presence in the impacted area and a track record for relief work. In the next few days we’ll publish those organizations we feel best qualified to handle donations. Kindly send your suggestions to ar@hindu.org.
