KOCHI, SRI LANKA, January 22, 2005: The Sri Lankan government has invited Mata Amritanandamayi to visit the island nation and provide “spiritual healing” to those affected by the tsunami and bring peace and prosperity to their lives. “The victims need spiritual healing, solace, succor and blessing,” Sri Lankan Minister of Agriculture Marketing Development and Hindu Affairs K N Douglas Devananda said in his letter to Amritanandamayi. The Minister requested her to come for a few days specifically to visit Batticaloa, Ampara, Trincomalaee, Jaffna, Hambanthota, Galle and Matara, the Amritanandamayi Math said in a release. “We are deeply touched by the great spiritual and humanitarian work undertaken by her for the poor and needy people in many parts of the world,” he said. Amritanandamayi has already sent Swami Ramakrishnanda and four others from the ashram to Sri Lanka.
