LOS ANGELES, USA, February 3, 2005: The student community at USC is widely respected as wonderfully diverse in cultural, ethnic and political senses. But one often-overlooked feature is its religious diversity. From the Hindu Student Organization to the Muslim Students Association, from pagans to wiccans, it’s all here at USC. To explore this religious diversity and learn more about the religions of the world from the perspective of USC students, it’s best to start, well, where it all started – Hinduism, the world’s oldest known religion. “One of the reasons why Hinduism is so amazing to me, after studying other religions, is how it can answer some of life’s most difficult questions,” said Deepa Shinde, a senior majoring in business administration and international relations as well as the president of the Hindu Student Organization, while seated barefoot and cross-legged on her sofa in a small apartment not too far from campus.
