John Godl
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, February 11, 2005: HPI received the following request. Not feeling qualified to answer this particular set of questions on behalf of the Hindu community, we invite our readers to send Mr. John Godl their own answers. (HPI Note: Mr. Godl has received enough answers to this question and does not need any further responses, hence we’ve removed his e-mail address as of February 12.) He writes:
I am an Australian journalist writing a feature on the social consequences (if any) of humanity coming into contact with an intelligent extraterrestrial form of life and wonder if you could answer the following questions for me pertaining to how members of the Hindu world community would react I would be very grateful.
Q1: Does the foundation theology provide room for the existence of extraterrestrial life?
Q2: Do you feel contact with intelligent extraterrestrial life would challenge religious beliefs?
Q3: If contact was made with intelligent extraterrestrial life would members of your faith be keen to establish personal contact with them, to impart the wisdom of your religion?
Any thoughts you can send me will be gratefully received, relevant citations from scripture, etc., especially so. I know the subject matter sounds sensational but I can assure you my article will be scholarly written and of the highest standards.
