NEW DELHI, INDIA, April 21, 2005: RSS chief K. S. Sudarshan has lambasted Pope Benedict XVI for being a hardliner. He also criticized him for being loathe to faiths other than the Roman Catholic religion. At a function in New Delhi, Sudarshan said Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, during the millennium peace summit in 2000, was one of the few religious heads who had little respect for the multiplicity of faiths. “He said the followers of non-Christian religion will not get salvation because they do not consider Jesus Christ to be the only son of God. He also said that there are several shortcomings in non-Catholic religions because they do not consider the Pope to be their leader,” said Sudarshan.
