MONTREAL, CANADA, August 22, 2005: With the blessings of Lord Murugan (Karthikeya) the Hindu community in Montreal has accomplished the mission towards building an authentic temple to Lord Murugan with Dravidian architecture (the oldest living architecture). The new Murugan temple has two majestic towers (the Raja Gopuram over the entrance and the Vimanam over the main sanctum sanctorum), attractive sculptured pillars, shrines of the deities Ganapathy, Venkateswara, Nataraja, Navagraghas (nine planets), Bhairava and also a Vasantha Mandapam (shrine for metal icons) and a Kodi Stambha (flag post) with very attractive metal covering. This temple will be a legacy for Hindu generations in North America.

With the divine grace of Almighty Lord Murugan and after due consultation with very eminent priests and astrologers, the Maha Kumbabishekam (Ritual Inauguration and Consecration Ceremony) of the Montreal Murugan Temple has been set to take place during the very auspicious time between 11 AM and 2:30 PM on September 5, 2005. Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami, publisher of Hinduism Today and HPI, will bless the opening worship of Lord Ganapathy on August 28 morning.

There will be special homams daily from August 28 till September 2 for Ganapathy, Siva, Shakti, Murugan (Karthikeya), Venkateswara, Maha Lakshmi, Bhairava and Navagrahas performed by very qualified and experienced priests. The Yagas of the Kumbabishekam will start on Saturday September 3. There will be a Mandalabishekam (special pujas for forty-eight days) following the Maha Kumbabishekam.
