UDUPI, KARNATAKA, INDIA, September 28, 2005: Sri Vishvesha Thirtha Swamiji of Udupi Pejavar Mutt today expressed surprise over the statement of Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister M. P. Prakash in the controversial Sri Krishna temple takeover issue. In a release here, he said both Mr. Prakash and Law Minister H. K. Patil, during their telephonic talks with the seer, had assured to have a dialogue on the controversial issue. However, Mr. Prakash had stated in Bangalore that there was no going back on the Government’s stand of taking over the Sri Krishna temple administration and appointing an administrator. ”Despite my repeated invitations to the Government to discuss the issue to have an out-of-court settlement, the Government went on to say that it will take over the temple and appoint an administrator,” the pontiff said. He cautioned the Government that if it adopted a confrontationist attitude, then he would be left with no alternative but to approach the court or any other means within the legal framework to defend the stand of the Ashta mutt (eight mutts of Udupi).
