TIRUPATI, INDIA, February 3, 2006: Three massive pilgrim accommodation complexes would soon be built at a cost of US$11.6 million at Tirumala, the famous hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara. In its monthly meeting held on the hills today, the Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam Board that administers the hill temple has also decided to install the granite deities of Astadikpalakas at eight corners on the four streets encircling the hill shrine at a cost of $86,000, TTD Chairman T. Subbirami Reddy, who presided over the meeting, told reporters. A pilgrim accommodation complex at a cost of $21.6 million in the name of “Madhavam” would also be constructed at the open ground near the central bus station at Tirupati, he said. The TTD has resolved to conduct “Loka Kalyana Maha Yagam” for world peace on the hills once in three months, he added.
