NEW YORK, NEW YORK, September 6, 2006: H. H. Vishwaguru Mahamandaleshwar Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda is attending the 59th Annual Conference for NGO’s at the United Nations. The conference is held in acknowledgment of the ongoing efforts Non-Government Organizations are forging to achieve the 8 Millennium Development Goals by 2015. President of the General Assembly, Jan Eliasson, said that there is 1.2 billion people in the world without access to clean drinking water. He called for concrete action from NGOs to help people in need to get clean water. Provision of clean, safe water is the very outcome of the humanitarian initiative that His Holiness Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda has undertaken in the Pali District of Rajasthan. His unique Desert Rainwater Harvesting Initiative has successfully captured millions of liters from recent monsoon rains, ready for distribution throughout the district in the coming hot & dry summer months.
