DEHRA DUN, INDIA, October 4, 2006: Badrinath Temple will be closed for the public from November 16 and Kedarnath Temple will be closed from October 24 for the winter season. Both temples are located high in the Himalayas above Rishikesh. Chairman of Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee Anusuyia Prasad Maikhuri told UNI that more than 700,000 pilgrims visited Badrinath Temple this season and about US$1 million collected through Tuesday. Meanwhile more than 500,000 devotees have visited Kedarnath Temple and there has been the earning of more than $450,000 in this season so far, he apprised.
