MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA, December 7, 2006: N. Sundaresan, Chairman of the Victorian Centre for Hindus Studies, reports, “With profound regret I wish to inform you of the ‘Holy Samathi’ of ‘Pallum Pallamum’ Pandit. Dr. Navaratnam Ayya Avargal today in the early morning at 2.30 am died in his sleep in his hospital bed with full ‘Thiru Neeru’ (sacred ash) on his forehead and a small framed picture of Lord Siva, Yogaswami and Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami in his folded hands. He was hospitalized for the last few weeks after suffering a heart attack, and also had other medical conditions. He was the senior-most devotee and direct disciple of Yogaswamigal known to us. He had the blessings of Yogaswami from an early age. His passing is a huge loss for the entire Yogaswami community in Australia and throughout the Jaffna communities across the world. The last rites will take place on Sunday, December 10, 1996.”
