KAUAI, HAWAII, February 13, 2007: A cute and entertaining cartoon video on Lord Ganesha is available at the URL above. It appears by Prashant Kadkol, and is really quite well done. One does, however, need to understand the context of the Ganesha Chaturti festival, Gujurat style, to get what is going on. It helps to read carefully all the small opening type.
The cartoon begins with Ganesha sinking into the ocean. This is, of course, at the end of the ten-day celebration when thousands of Ganesha Deities, from small to very, very large, that have been set up all over the city are ceremoniously deposited in the ocean. The cartoon starts then from the premise, what happens next? In short, the celebration’s not over as several thousand Ganeshas party on upon the ocean floor. The Deities used in the festival all have different characteristics, and this is reflected in the ocean party, which comes to its logical, metaphysical conclusion. So, that said, enjoy the show.
