SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, March 6, 2007: Sri Venkateshwara Temple, Helensburgh, south of Sydney, Australia, will be celebrating Sri Rama Navami on Sunday, April 1, 2007 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm as a major festival including Hindus of all origins or nationalities. Sydney has a broad populations of Hindus from India, Fiji, South Africa, Bali (Indonesia), Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Banglasesh and UK, USA, etc. SV Temple invites all families, especially children, to join in and celebrate the divinity of Sri Rama and enjoy the variety of dances, dramas & children’s activities based on the great epic Ramayana. The festival starts with community chanting of Vishnu Sahasranama (Laksha nama-Japa) and Hanuma Chalisa at 10 am. Besides the cultural programs and discourses on Ramayana by eminent Guruji, group singing in Carnatic and Hindi Bhajans will fill the temple and the surroundings. Everyone is invited to participate. The finale will be the Sita Kalyanam, the divine wedding of Sita and Rama, conducted by senior priests, followed by archanas and prasadams.
