CRAWLEY, ENGLAND, May 8, 2007: Preparations for the arrival of a Hindu Saint are well underway in Crawley. Crawley-based Gurjar Hindu Union (GHU) is privileged to host a Ramayan Recital (katha) by world renowned Hindu Saint Shri Rameshbhai Oza, fondly known as Bhaishri (older brother). Bhaishri, who founded the prestigious Sandipani Vidyaniketan school in Porbandar, Gujarat, will be coming for 10 days to Crawley, a town with a population of 100,000, located on the door steps of Gatwick Airport in the South-East of England. The katha will be the recital of the Ramayan, the epic Hindu scripture. It will be held from July 15 to 23 2007 in Crawley. The theme of this recital is to promote peace, harmony and progress for maintaining and promoting the future of Hinduism in and around Crawley. Delegates will get an opportunity to enjoy and experience a musical lecture by Bhaishri and his team of highly talented musicians. The katha will be preceded on 14 July by the recital of 108 Hanuman Chalisas.
The katha is free, and open to everyone. Places are expected to be in high demand with GHU having received hundreds of emails and phone calls from people registering their interest with volunteering work and funding. The audience is expected from all walks of life including youth. Harshil Pattni, 17, said: “It’s going to be brilliant. He is a saint and it’s a big deal to a lot of people who believe in him and even those who don’t. It is a huge honor to bless Crawley with the Ram Katha. I can’t wait for it to happen.”
