IRELAND, November 16, 2007: ArtsEkta Ltd, Northern Ireland’s only Ethnic Arts organisation, recently celebrated Diwali in the City of Lisburn. The event was hugely successful and was attended by members of the local community as well as Indian, Chinese and the Zimbabwean community (for photos click URL above). A showcase of traditional, classical dance and music was on display as well as European and African performances. The event was attended by the Minister for Culture Arts and Leisure Mr. Edwin Poots MLA as well as the Mayor of Lisburn, Councillor James Tinsley. Arts Ekta have also held Diwali celebrations in three different locations across the country involving and engaging with a cross section of all communities. The largest of these celebrations will take place at the University of Ulster on 18th November and will end with a huge outdoor fireworks display. ArtsEkta’s work has been well received and recognized by members of the Northern Ireland Assembly.
