UDUPI, INDIA, January 1, 2008: No solution seems to be in sight for the “Paryaya Peetha” controversy with seven of the Asta Mutts opposing Puttige seer Sugendra Theertha Swamiji ascending the peetha on January 18 and performing Sri Krishna pooja for the two-year term.
Even as Puttige seer asserted his right to ascend the Paryaya Peetha, as per the turn of his mutt, Pejawar mutt pontiff, Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji on Thursday asked the former to denounce claim and nominate his junior.
Seers of seven of the Asta Mutts have been opposing Sugendra swamiji performing pooja on the ground that following his visit abroad he has lost the right, a contention Puttige mutt seer disputes. At a press conference here, the Pejawar pontiff said, he and seers of Palimar and Puttige will meet on January one to find out an amicable solution to the row.
Vishwesha Theertha swamiji denied that he was in the forefront in opposing Puttige Mutt pontiff from ascending the Paryaya Peetha and added it was the decision by majority of Asta Mutts.Meanwhile, Sugendra swamiji has struck to his stand of performing the pooja from January 18.
Asta mutts perform pooja at Sri Krishna temple in Udupi on rotation for a two-year term.
