PATHANAMTHITTA, INDIA, February 5, 2008: Head of US-based Kauai Aadheenam, which follows the Nandinatha tradition, Satguru Bodhinatha Veylan Swamigal has said that Hinduism is facing the challenge of unethical conversion by other faiths.
Delivering a discourse after inaugurating the Vidhyadhiraja Cultural Centre at the 96th Ayroor-Cherukolppuzha Hindumatha Parishad at Ayroor-Cherukolppuzha on Monday as reported here, Satguru Bodhinatha Veylan Swamigal said that a united and organized movement against unethical conversions should be the need of the hour.
“The challenge of conversion is better faced when the Hindus within a country are united,” the Swami said. “Malaysia provides a good model of a country in which Hindus are effectively united through an umbrella organization styled Malaysia Hindu Sangam,” the leader continued.
Recently the Sangam organized rallies against conversion. To contain the threat, “Social service programs of Hindus extending assistance to other distressed and needy fellow Hindus should be undertaken,” according to Swami. “In every country, there are misguided leaders and movements who discourage Hindus from working together.”
Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami also stressed the unique way Hindus relate to Divinity. “For Hindus, belief in God is only a set up towards the eventful experience of God,” he said.
