CAIRO, EGYPT, October 5, 2008: Evangelists and other pastors, rabbis and imams, gurus and pious laypeople are discovering the power of YouTube as a means of presenting their religious views to the world. It is quickly becoming a powerful tool in the dissemination of people’s faiths.

The clips are as varied as the world’s religions. Tak e for example Pastor Harold, head of Get Ready Ministries in Phoenix, who uses YouTube to deliver his evangelical doctrine. Rabbi Jonathan Ginsburg, senior rabbi of the Niles Township Jewish Congregation in Skokie, Illinois, explains various aspects of Jewish faith and practice, from funeral observances to holy days. Laura, an American Muslim convert from Virginia, uses YouTube to counter misconceptions about her new faith. And thousands of viewers have accessed the Hindu teachings of Dattatreya Siva Baba, a US-based Swami originally from South India with more than 300,000 viewers drawn to his clips.
