RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL, January 26, 2009: Brazil’s main TV channel, TV Globo, started a new soap opera with daily episodes that is planned to air for the next six months. Each episode costs US$108,000. Called “A Path to India,” the stories are set in Rajasthan, Dubai and Rio de Janeiro. Filming crews are working in Jaipur and Agra.
It currently ranks at the top of the most watched shows in the Brazilian television, with a share of 36 per cent of the country’s TVs, an estimated 110 million people. “A Path to India” explores differences in beliefs and values between the Eastern and Western world.
