Thousands of Hindus and other New Yorkers–along with local politicians– attended the annual Holi parade in Richmond Hill, Queens, New York City.
Many participants and attendees are descendants of Caribbean Hindus who came as indentued immigrants to Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, Surinam and Jamaica from India and then moved to New York city. They refer to the festival as Phagwah, as they originated from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
