TOBAGO, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO, June 3, 2009: Hindus in Tobago have renewed hopes for a Hindu temple there, following the announcement Saturday by Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Chief Secretary Orville London that talks have restarted between himself and the Tobago Hindu Society. London made the announcement during the Indian Arrival Day celebrations.
The Hindu community in Tobago currently has no place to worship and no cremation site. For years the Hindu Society has asked the assembly to allot resources for these purposes.
High Commissioner of India, Malay Mishra, who delivered the feature address for Indian Arrival Day, said the Tobago House of Assembly and India are working to share their and resources. “It is my Government’s intention to be of help to Tobago,” Mishra said.
