NETHERLANDS, August 11, 2009: Dispelling the common image of a modern student, the Hindu Students Forum Netherlands (HSFN) is holding its third annual Sewa Week to show students that they can contribute to society. The members of the Sewa Week HSFN go along with other volunteers for one week’s time. Last year approximately 130 students took part in the Sewa Week.

Sewa Week takes place from August 24 to August 29 in the cities of Den Haag, Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Utrecht. Sewa will be done at elderly centers, food banks and the Salvation Army. A traditional opening ceremony will be held August 24 in The Hague’s Zuiderpark. Everyone is welcome.

“The word Sewa comes from the Indian Sanskrit language and means selfless service without attachment,” says Harish Lakhi of HSFN. For more information, check HSFN’s website: www.hsfn.nl
