BANGALORE, INDIA, March 20, 2010: A new and massive chariot for Lord Siva is beinf prepared for the Mahalingeshvara temple. After the chariot (that is being given final touches in Puttur) is readied, it will stand at 71 feet, and weigh 40 tons. Over 10 sculptors under the guidance of renowned sculptor Krishnamurthy Achar have worked on the chariot that has depictions of Ganesha, Shiva and Parvati, Nagaraj and the Ashta Digpalakas (Eight divine guards). There are plans to the new chariot in a five-day grand festival.

A single devotee sponsored the chariot for reportedly $300,000.
