LOS ANGELES, USA, November 30, 2011 (LA Times): Mohandas Gandhi, Pythagoras and others are featured on 44-cent stamps made by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
The limited-edition sheet of 20 44-cent stamps produced and sold by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, makes for an unusual assemblage — linking Anderson, Barker, Woody Harrelson and Joan Jett to Pythagoras, Mohandas Gandhi, Leonardo da Vinci and Leo Tolstoy.
Dan Mathews, PETA’s senior vice president, had to shout to be heard as he introduced the stamps. “People think that eating vegan is a new trend, but it was actually 3,000 years ago that the ancient Greek philosopher Pythagoras wrote that carnivores are digging their graves with their teeth,” he called out, his words punctuated by constant camera clicks and whirs.
