KAPAA, HAWAII, January 7, 2016: Hinduism Today is trying to find information on the history of the Ganga Canal, specifically the section at the beginning where it passes through Haridwar, and prior to the construction of the canal beginning in 1842. We’ve read that a branch of the river passed by Haridwar prior to the canal construction, and that the ghats created there were improved when the canal was built. Ideally we’d find a map of the river at Haridar prior to construction. If you can provide information, kindly contact the managing editor, Acharya Arumuganathaswami at ar@hindu.org. We’re doing a feature story on Haridwar for the next issue of the magazine and this would be a helpful piece of information.
