UNITED KINGDOM, September 28, 2021 (Daily News Catch): In a first from the British Royal Mint ingots, a range of bars featuring Goddess Lakshmi to celebrate Diwali went on sale Tuesday. The “Lakshmi” bar, a 20 gram gold bar with the Hindu Goddess of Wealth intricately etched into the precious metal, was designed by Royal Mint designer Emma Noble and follows a close collaboration with the Shree Swaminarayan temple in Cardiff on its intricate design.


The bar, retailing at US$1,462, is described by the Royal Mint as a reflection of its continued commitment to diversity and inclusion and the expansion of various cultural celebrations in the country. “Gold being a traditional and auspicious gift during the Diwali festival, we wanted to develop a product that incorporates both beauty and tradition, but with a modern twist,” said Andrew Dickey, division manager for precious metals at the Royal Mint. The ingot will also be blessed during the Diwali ceremony of the Shree Swaminarayan temple as part of their Lakshmi Poojan, in the presence of royal coin representatives on November 4.
