USA, October 8, 2021 (hinduamerican.org): Diwali is known as the “Festival of Lights” and is a Hindu holiday widely celebrated in India and across the Hindu Diaspora. The word Diwali derives from Sanskrit meaning “a row of lights” and clay lamps or diyas are lit to signify the destruction, through knowledge, of all negative qualities. In other words, Diwali celebrates the victory of good over evil. Diwali is November 4, 2021 this year and we invite you to celebrate with our revamped Toolkit, which has more information about why Diwali is celebrated, Common Core State Standards (CCSS) lessons for the classroom and activities to do at home with your young learners.
