SERANG, INDONESIA, August 10, 2025 (Radio Republic Indonesia): The national Child-Friendly Temple movement is now present in Banten Province. Six temples have been designated as child development centers that combine religious education, character education and mutual respect. The Chairperson of the Indonesian Hindu Dharma Council (PHDI) of Banten Province, Ida Bagus Alit Wiratmaja (above), explained that this program is part of a national movement initiated by the Directorate General of Hindu Community Guidance in collaboration with the PHDI Central Office. “Child-Friendly Temples are not only places of worship, but also Centers of Excellence for developing a superior generation of Hindus,” he said on Sunday (August 10, 2025).

Ida Bagus Alit explained that the implementation of the Child-Friendly Temple program includes religious and character education for children within the temple environment. “Here, children not only learn religious teachings, but also build character, ethics, and tolerance in their daily lives,” he said. This program is also expected to be an important indicator in improving the index of interfaith harmony in the region. “The Child-Friendly Temple Movement proves that the Hindu community in Banten upholds tolerance. This is a real contribution to strengthening interfaith harmony,” said Ida Bagus Alit. He stated that the educational concept promoted by the Child-Friendly Temple is expected to serve as a model for other regions. “We want each temple to be a safe, inclusive space filled with noble values, so that children grow into individuals of character,” he said.
