SINGAPORE, December 23, 2025 (Mothership): A Singapore national was arrested by the police in India for allegedly filming videos inside a Hindu temple using camera-embedded smart glasses. The man, a 49-year-old of Sri Lankan ethnicity, was visiting the state of Kerala as a tourist, The Hindu reported. Around 9:25am on Dec. 20, he went into Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple wearing smart glasses that were fitted with a concealed camera, The Hindu cited the local police saying. Visitors are not allowed to take photos and videos inside the temple, and all electronic devices are strictly banned. According to the police, he allegedly broke this rule by recording footage such as of the northern side of the temple, and an area known as the Thulabharam mandapam, where a sacred ritual is performed. He was later intercepted by temple security staff when they noticed his camera-equipped glasses. A similar incident occurred at the same temple in July.
