TIRUMALA, INDIA, December 01, 2006: Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams (TTD) Trust Board Chairman B. Karunakara Reddy inaugurated the 24th Veda Sastra Agama Vidwat Sadas (a meeting of Vedic scholars where exams are held) at Vedapatasala in Vedagiri at Tirumala. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Reddy stressed the need to protect the Vedas. He reiterated the need to propagate Vedas even at the grassroot level. TTD Executive officer APVN Sarma said to spread Vedic education and safeguard Vedas, TTD is taking much more interest and he thanked the Chief Minister and Governor of Andhra Pradesh, who made a lot of effort for Vedic university in Tirupati. After a 14-year gap, the prestigious veda sadassula was conducted last year and again this year after the TTD trust board made a decision to conduct such sadassulu every year. Nearly 100 scholars from across the country are taking part in the exams, to be conducted on various subjects of the Vedas. A large number of scholars and Veda pandits from across the country attended the sadasu.
