ISALAMABAD, PAKISTAN, February 22, 2007: Hindus pilgrimaging from India during Sivaratri installed Deities of Lord Krishna, Radha and Hanuman at Lahore’s Krishna Mandir. Pundit Vinay Kumar Bhiraghi from India installed the Deities during a ceremony on Sunday. Manohar Chand, secretary general of the Lahore Balmik Association, said it was an important occasion as there had been no Deities of the three Gods in the city since partition. “We are thankful to the government for allowing us to place our religious symbols in the temple.” The Deities of the three Hindu Gods were brought to Pakistan by Indian pilgrims at the request of Baba Devender Kumar Ghai, founding president of the Anglo-Asian Friendship Society (UK), said Chand.
