TAMIL NADU, INDIA, February 15, 2026 (The Hindu): Lord Shiva temples in Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts witnessed unprecedented rush on Maha Sivaratri, celebrated today. Temples such as Ramateertham, Punyagiri, Dwadasa Jyotirlinga Sahitha Pasupathinadeswara Swamy temple in Vizianagaram, Mudu Kovellu in Vizianagaram and others wore a festive look with special prayers offered to the presiding Deities. Pilgrims thronged the Pasupathinadeswara temple from the early hours to do puja to the replicas of the Dwadasa Jyotirlingas within the temple premises.

The temple trustees Gudisa Shiva Kumar, Gudisa Srinivasa Rao along with others made elaborate arrangements for a hassle-free darshan. Holy bath and Rudrabhisekham was performed in Srimukhalingam, Endala Mallikarjuna Swamy temple, Umarudra Koteswara Alayam, Shiva Balaji temple on Sunday (February 15, 2026). Srimukhalingam temple chief priest Naidugari Rajasekhar and the trustees made arrangements for special prayers to the presiding Deity in Srimukhalingam which is called as Dakshina Kasi. The police department made security arrangements within the temple premises and the Vamsadhara river, where devotees took a holy bath before offering prayers in the temple.
