Memorial for Sister Gargi February 1 in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA, January 30, 2004: A memorial service for Sister Gargi of the Northern California Vedanta Society will be held at the Old Temple in San Francisco on Sunday, February 1 and 1:00 pm.



The Society notes that, “Swami Ashokananda was not the founder of the SF Vedanta Society. Swami Vivekanandaji founded the center, and it was built up by Swami Trigunathitanandaji, a direct disciple. Several other Swamis of the Order were ministers of the Center, now known as the Northern California Vedanta Society. Swami Ashokananda was the minister of the center during a huge period of expansion of the center and did start the Berkeley and Sacramento centers with the help of his assistant swamis.”
