MUMBAI, INDIA, MARCH 27, 2004: A number of artists and scientists have helped to design the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Mumbai, India, as a celebration to Lord Siva. The hotel interior showcases over 100 commissioned artworks of various artists. The hotel’s lobbies, gardens and restaurants are around themes like the Sadashiva icon, deconstructed and seen as fragments of a puzzle coming together into a whole, while the windows are in the theme of Siva as the divine yogi. A three-dimensional mural shows the immersion of Lord Ganesh against the half-submerged backdrop of Mumbai. A contemporary marble statue of Nandi, facing a Lingam of crystals that appear within a cascading waterfall, suggests the descent of river Ganga.
