VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA, October 13, 2004: Ramalingam of Canada (“source”) submits the following report:

A Lord Ganesha icon was exquisitely made of fresh clay by a young devotee for the Visarjan festival organized by the Sri Ganesh Temple Society of BC. The icon was hollow and beautifully decorated with holy ash and kumkum. Ganapathy Homam (fire ceremony) and puja (worship) for the clay Ganesha icon and abhishekam for the temple’s Lord Ganesha were performed everyday for ten days, starting on the Ganesha Chathurthi day and the Visarjan was held on the last day at Deas Island Regional Park in Delta, BC, with the permission of the park officials. Special puja, aarti (worship with lights) and bhajans (religious songs) were performed at the river side, and the icon was immersed in the waters of the Fraser River. This happy event was attended by about 40 devotees. The organizers hope make this an annual celebration.
