BHOPAL, INDIA, January 28, 2005: A number of steps have been taken in Madhya Pradesh toward the goal of promoting the the Sanskrit Language. As part of these efforts, scholarships are being provided to over 44,000 Sanskrit students in the state. Assistance is also being provided for modernization of traditional Sanskrit Pathshalas (training schools). In order to improve the condition of Sanskrit Pathshalas, a state level committee has been established to give suggestions in this regard. The committee will study the present conditions, curriculum, teaching methods, inspection and supervision systems, distribution of scholarships and availability of Information Technology and suggest measures to improve them in these Pathshalas.



An orientation program is being implemented for Sanskrit teachers in the state of Madhya Pradesh. A book entitled Sanskrit Bhasha Shikshanam has been published to facilitate training to the Sanskrit teachers. Besides, 100 teachers/lecturers from each district of the state would undergo training to develop their skill of Sanskrit teaching. The Madhya Pradesh Sanskrit board has a target goal of training five thousand Sanskrit teachers in the state. Over 500 Sanskrit schools of conventional ancient system are being conducted in the state.
