TRINIDAD/TOBAGO, March 24, 2005: Swami Prakashananda has called on the people of Trinidad and Tobago to make decisions based on righteousness. He made this call upon his arrival from India and England. In India, he was initiated as a swami at the Chinmaya Mission in Mumbai. He is Trinidad’s third indigenous swami. “We must make decisions based on dharma and recognize the Divine Essence in our existence,” he said in an address at Queen’s Hall, Port-of-Spain. “When we are strongly rooted in dharma, we will never want to commit an adharmic act,” continued Swami. Tej Ramlogan, speaking on behalf of the Minister of Culture, Community Development and Gender Affairs, Senator Joan Yuille-Williams, said the Ministry is willing to work alongside the Chinmaya Mission for the spiritual progress of the land. Mayor of Port-of Spain, Murchinson Brown, said that he was proud that of a son of the soil has advanced to such a high position in his faith.
